Our Approach
Swan is one of the country’s leading developing housing associations with a development programme which has gone from strength to strength. Our development programme, based in Essex and East London will deliver around 5,000 new homes over the next three years.
In recognition of our ability to consistently deliver and exceed on our ambitious development targets, Swan is accredited as a Preferred Partner of the Housing Corporation. We recently attracted an initial allocation of £64million in Social Housing Grant to support our 2008-11 development programme, the fifth largest allocation in the country.
The objectives of Swan’s development programme are to:
- Maintain Housing Corporation Investment Partner status and be recognised as the largest and best developing RSL in the East of England
- Add to the supply of affordable housing at the rate of 10% of existing stock numbers each year
- Invest 10% of the National Affordable Housing Programme allocation in supported housing
- Deliver mixed tenure and sustainable communities, including private for sale and key worker housing
- Meet the needs of vulnerable people and minority groups

Swan New Homes
In recognition of the need to create sustainable, mixed-tenure communities, Swan Housing Group has established Swan New Homes, a wholly owned non-charitable subsidiary. Swan New Homes’ remit is to develop homes for private market sale, the profits from which are gift aided back to the Group, to invest in additional social housing.
