Swan Housing Association's plans for the Laindon Shopping Centre take a key step forward as they reveal the branding for their retail-led regeneration, which will transform the centre of Laindon bringing exciting new shops, a Swan office, a health centre and high quality new homes - making Laindon a great place to live, shop and work.
The branding has been developed following the detailed consultation work Swan carried out before securing planning consent for its award winning new scheme.
Luke Riley Swan's Projects Director was joined by Cllr Stephen Hillier, Cllr Andrew Gordon, Cllr Allan Davies, Cllr Hazel Green and Cllr Frank Ferguson to unveil the new 'Laindon Place' branding which has been displayed on the hoarding surround the development site. Laindon Place was chosen as the brand, to reflect the scheme's central position in Laindon and Laindon's heritage.
Swan's Chief Executive, John Synnuck commented:"We've been working in Basildon for almost 25 years, so we recognise how the regeneration of Laindon Shopping Centre is key to Laindon's success as a place to live, shop and work. That's why we stepped in and bought the Centre, so we could make this happen, after so many previous owners failed.
Laindon Place will transform a dilapidated and unattractive inward-looking centre into a new high street including new shops, a health centre and even a new Swan Office, to which our Billericay based staff will relocate. There will be stylish new homes too, all set in high-quality public space and when complete Laindon Place will be at the heart of a revitalised Laindon, benefitting existing and new residents".
Swan will be marking their formal start of works on-site later in the Spring, but you can find out more on the newly launch website www.laindonplace.co.uk.
