Job hunt hopes get a boost at Basildon foyer for young people

Foyer ICT suite LaunchYoung job seekers living at Swan House Foyer in Basildon got a boost recently when a new computer suite was officially opened.

Swan House Foyer in Vange, Basildon provides safe independent living accommodation for young people aged 16 to 25. During their stay at the Foyer they are supported to learn independent life skills including, but not limited to, cooking, cleaning and budgeting. They are also encouraged to access education, training and employment opportunities.

Young people at the Foyer hosted a visit by Tony Ball, Leader of Basildon Borough Council, and Mo Larkin Basildon Town Mayor to mark the opening of the suite.

The computer suite was funded by Network Resource Group, a locally based IT consultancy, hosting and communications company focused on delivering specialist services to Essex based businesses.

The computer suite is aimed at improving residents’ access to IT facilities and aiding them in their search for education, training and employment.

Guests were able to hear from some of the young people about their experiences in seeking employment and the difficulties they face in doing this.

Mary Gibbons, Regional Director of Housing (Essex) said: “I am delighted that we have been able to open this modern IT Suite, giving opportunities to the young people”.
