Reward for Stolen WW2 Plaque

Unvealing of the plaqueSwan Housing Group is offering a reward for information that leads to the recovery of a stolen memorial plaque.

The plaque which commemorates the lives of Violet Pengelly and Joan Bartlett, two teenage fire fighters who lost their lives during a Blitz bombing raid, was stolen recently from the Old Millwall Firestation, on the Isle of Dogs, Tower Hamlets.

Swan is offering a £100 reward to anyone able to provide information that leads to the recovery of the plaque.

Swan Housing Group Deputy Chief Executive, Mark Thompson, said: ‘It’s sad that a plaque like this should be stolen at a time of year when we traditionally come together in remembrance of the sacrifices made by others.

‘We hope that this small reward might lead to information that helps us recover the plaque.’

Anyone with information on the plaque’s whereabouts should contact Swan on 01277 844700.
