Swan favoured to regenerate Romford Town Centre
Swan Housing Group has been selected to lead the regeneration of Romford town centre after a vote by local councillors
The transformation of the Angel Way area of Romford town centre will gather pace after councillors at the London Borough of Havering backed a multimillion pound bid to regenerate the Angel Way area of the town.
The local authority has a vision to turn the area into a cultural and economic destination and the home of a vibrant residential community
Swan will work with Havering and English Partnerships with construction work due to start on site in November 2009.
London Borough of Havering Cabinet Member for regeneration, Councillor Michael Armstrong said: ‘This is another step to ensure that the borough’s towns are places of culture, commerce, community and beauty that will make residents proud.
‘We want this regeneration to give something to everyone. We want it to give residents good and affordable homes, office workers environmental buildings, visitors commercial activity that attracts them and give young people more to do.’
Dave Poulter, Swan Housing Group Director of Major Projects, said:
‘We have been working in partnership with the London Borough of Havering for the best part of a year and look forward to delivering a vibrant and successful regeneration of this important part of the town.’
