Benefits - Further Information...
The rent you pay us is our main source of income. We use it to provide services and homes for people who need them. This is why we are quick to remind you when you owe us money.
We understand that sometimes you might find it difficult to pay your rent. It is always better to tell us you are having problems as soon as you know rather than waiting until you owe a lot of money.
If you are struggling to pay your rent, talk to your Housing Officer straight away.
Your Housing Officer has experience dealing with these issues and will understand you may be embarrassed or worried. They can offer advice and support about housing and other benefits.
What can I expect if I owe Swan money?
Your Housing Officer will contact you. This will include letters, phone calls, emails and visits to you at home. Payment of the money you owe will be discussed and a payment plan will be agreed.
Specialist advice
Swan employs Welfare Benefit Officers who can offer advice and support about benefits, assist you if you have special needs and help you challenge Housing Benefit or Benefits Agency decisions.
