The Group consists of Property Services, Finance, Housing Services and Central Services and a Director is appointed to each area.
The Directors and Deputy Chief Executive report directly to the Chief Executive and have overall responsibility for the delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan, which is set by the Swan Group Board.
The Executive Team
John D Synnuck
Chief Executive
John has considerable skills and experience in managing a social landlord's business, having worked in the public and housing association sectors for 40 years. He is a former Director of Housing for the London Borough of Southwark and Housing Services Director for West Kent Housing Association, the second ever large scale voluntary transfer.
Mark A Thompson
Deputy Chief Executive
Mark leads the growth and procurement strategy with a significant new build programme of 5000 homes and is responsible for regeneration in both the built form and socio-economic context. Mark is also the organisation's 'Design and Sustainability Champion'.
Jamie A Smith
Group Finance Director
Jamie joined in 2009 after having held a number of Finance Director positions and other senior commercial / finance roles. He has extensive experience of construction as both a main contractor and subcontractor, including bidding for and operating PFI and PPP contracts. Jamie has overall responsibility for finance in Swan.
Ian Nelthorpe
Director of Central Services
Ian joined Swan in 2006 following a number of senior management positions in the commerical sector. He is responsible for the delivery of our corporate and back office services and takes the lead for the development of our employer brand.
Michael Rutherford
Director of Financial Services
Michael is a qualified Chartered Accountant and joined us in 2006, after taking on a number of interim Finance Director roles for various other Housing Associations and has worked in the private sector. He is responsible for the development and delivery of all financial management and information systems along with transaction processing.
Mary Gibbons
Director of Housing (Essex)
Mary first joined the executive team in October 2006. She has worked in housing for 15 years and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing. She is also a Board Director of Anglia Care Trust. Mary is responsible for Housing Services across Essex as well as Leaseholder Services and Supported Housing across the group. She is keen to ensure that services are easily accessible to all and customer focused.
Sandra Fawcett
Director of Housing (London)
Sandra joined Swan as Housing Director for London in March 2007 and has worked in sector for over 20 years in both London based RSLs and local authorities. She was previously Housing Services Director at Mosaic Homes and has considerable experience in leading teams and managing change. She is responsible at Swan for the service improvement agenda and taking forward improvements in service delivery for residents.
Terry Bird
Director of Asset Management
Terry has over 25 years experience in the construction industry, is a member of the CIOB and has 18 years dedicated experience in Social Housing. His expertise lies in Strategic Partnering and Asset Management. Having held numerous Senior Management positions, Terry joined Swan in March 2007 following a very successful career with Gallions HA. Terry aims to successfully implement a Strategic partnering contract for Planned and Responsive maintenance for Swan residents, having set out a two year plan to achieve this.
Dave Poulter
Major Projects Director
Dave has extensive project management experience of successfully implementing a wide range of schemes, and has worked with Swan Housing Group on a number of key worker accommodation schemes and has detailed experience of PFI and PPP schemes. At the invitation of the DTI he has briefed delegations from the governments of Hong Kong and South Korea on the successful use of PFI and PPP in the delivery of key worker accommodation.
Roger Synnuck
Construction Director
Roger joined Swan in February 2007 having spent some 35 years in the construction industry and brings extensive experience of Development Construction Management of major schemes. He is currently building the development team for Swan New Homes and is implementing the systems required to enable SNH to function as a developer. SNH schemes are expected on site in early 2008 and Roger is looking forward to the challenges ahead in making SNH a successful developer in its own right.
Jon Hayden
Development Director, Swan New Homes
Jon has over 14 years experience of working at a senior management level for House Builders and RSLs. Since joining Swan in 1999, Jon has worked extensively in managing Swan’s development programme in the Thames Gateway growth area, including large scale regeneration and new build projects. Recently Jon has taken on the portfolio responsibility for delivering Swan’s private development schemes under Swan New Homes, an expanding and key area of Swan’s business.
