Alex Neate, Project Officer
I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to work at Swan and started in July 2008 as a Trainee Project Manager. My undergraduate degree was in Human Geography and it was whilst studying that I became interested in Regeneration.
After working for a Regeneration Consultancy as a researcher I decided to explore the physical elements of Regeneration where I could work towards a tangible end product and influence the built environment. Having been interested in architecture for sometime I felt that this was the niche within Regeneration that I could begin to specialise in.
The provision of a quality and affordable home is an important aspect of Regeneration as are sustainable communities. Through the provision of multi-tenure developments Swan are striving to achieve this providing residents with a multitude of housing options.
Swan is keen to invest in their graduates and since joining Swan I have begun to study a masters degree in Real Estate Development and Investment. I am also part in a Regeneration Master Class to further broaden my knowledge of Regeneration. The training offered by Swan is wide ranging and provides a great opportunity for career development.
I am now a Project Officer and I have gained experience across various teams throughout Swan. I am currently working on a number of schemes at different stages; involved with scheme design right through to the sale of shared ownership properties.
I take pride in Swans vision to: “Create homes and communities that people want to live in” which provides a real sense of what Swan is all about.
