Tom Hardy

I joined Swan’s graduate programme in December 2010 after graduating with a first class honours degree in Property Marketing, Design and Development from the University of Portsmouth.
Upon completion of my degree, I aspired to work for a Housing Association after completing modules and a dissertation which demonstrated the challenges and demands Housing Associations face in making decent and affordable homes available to those on a low income. From this I understood the importance of Housing Associations and the impact that I could have. Swan stood out as an organisation leading the way in innovating homes and communities in this sector, in addition to Swan’s geographical presence across Essex and East London.
Swan offer an outstanding reward package which highlights the emphasis Swan has on creating an environment where individuals are encouraged to fulfil their full potential. Since I have been at Swan I have been continually provided with opportunities to attend training courses through our own in-house regeneration masterclass training scheme, off-site courses and further postgraduate study to achieve professional qualifications. In addition, I have had a high level of responsibility since I started at Swan to ensure I gain valuable hands on experiences.
Swan provides each graduate with the opportunity to gain an understanding of the business as a whole through a graduate rotation system within the following departments; sales, finance and construction. I have an individual development trainee plan to ensure that I have successfully gained knowledge of the foundation elements at Swan once each placement has been completed. During this period of time I have had regular meetings and support from managerial staff and colleagues to ensure I have gained adequate training and help develop my career. I am excited to be working at Swan; the friendliness of staff, the facilities and the training resources available are exceptional.
