Joining Us

Working for Swan is a lifestyle, not just a job. As a multi-award-winning Housing Association, Swan has provided great places to call home for over 27 years. Whether working in Operations, Care, or Central Services, you can be sure that we will provide you with a home-from-home feeling in whatever job you do here.

Our people care about making a real difference and are committed to finding better ways of doing things. Swan is dedicated to maximising everyone’s talent. As part of your welcome, you will receive a full and comprehensive induction and we will provide you with a wide range of training and development opportunities so that you can progress your career.

Swan understands that a family-friendly and flexible working culture is more important than ever; we want everyone to have a good work-life balance.  Gone are the days where ‘work’ was about the normal 9am - 5pm in the office. We understand that it’s now about working hours which best support both the business need, and your home life, in a variety of different locations, including working from home some of the time, rather than a single office.

Our main hubs are located centrally in Essex and East London, they all offer modern and flexible workspaces. There are quiet areas, informal meeting spaces and more traditional desk spaces. You have the choice to select a working space that works for you and your working day.

Creating a sense of belonging is really important to us at Swan. We want everyone who works for us to have a seat at the table and a voice that is heard. That’s why we have a range of initiatives in place to make sure that everyone has access to senior leaders and can take part in meetings. For example, we know many of our employees have caring responsibilities, so we make sure that meetings take place during normal working hours (9am - 5pm). We also make sure that physical meeting spaces are accessible to for employees who have disabilities, and that remote options are always available too.

Staff wellbeing is also high on Swan’s agenda and there are frequent ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions focussing on a diverse range of topics. Recent sessions have focussed on men’s health, menopause and dementia. Supporting everyone’s mental health is a key priority and there are mental health first aiders on hand to offer support to anyone who needs it.

Swan’s work makes a real difference. We build homes and communities and are known for our innovative solutions.
