Delivering effective services, enterprising solutions and exemplary homes and communities.
When we acquired Laindon Shopping Centre back in 2015, we were privileged to also become custodians of the Laindon War Memorial. Since then, we have worked in partnership with the Laindon Community to support and indeed grow the Community's act of Remembrance. We have moved the War Memorial to a new temporary location on the site, to ensure it can be accessed by the Community whilst the building work is underway. It will be returned, centre stage, to the completed regeneration, which is known as Laindon Place. This year, having worked with the dedicated local community organisers of the Remembrance event, it was agreed that bringing everyone together in a joint act of Remembrance was not something that could be done safely. However, everyone was keen to make sure that it was clear that local people should access the War Memorial for their own personal Remembrance. We put up a banner to explain the position this year and let the Community know that we were looking forward to being back together again next year. We would would like to thank the whole community for their support and understanding which has helped everyone stay safe in these difficult times.
In Purfleet-on-Thames a similar decision was made by the local community, who held a small but very poignant event in advance of Remembrance Day. We were delighted to be asked to send a representative from PCRL, our joint venture with Urban Catalyst, and Ken Dytor, Funding Director, Catalyst and Ding Ding, Commercial Manager, Urban Catalyst attended to lay a wreath.
