Swan/NU living Triumph In The Construction And Property Meridian Pull Challenge

Rowing Challenge Teams

Swan/NU living took to the water on 1 August and battled against the fierce waters of the Thames, navigating through bridges and veering past boats and barges. The 8.5mile row started at Battersea, past the Houses of Parliament, through the centre of London and under Tower Bridge, finishing at The AHOY Centre in Greenwich.

The AHOY centre is a remarkable charity. Their primary objectives are to give opportunities to disadvantaged and at-risk youths and to also offer opportunities for disabled people to participate in activities and courses on an equal level.  The Swan/ NU living row raised just under £5,000 for Ahoy, so huge thanks to everyone who sponsored them.

A massive well done to teams from Swan / NU living that took part too! A fantastic achievement of which you should be very proud.

I volunteered us for this challenge as it sounded like a great way to raise money for a fantastic cause. Despite various levels of training in advance (!) both teams put in a solid performance on the day making really good times.  Definitely something for us all to be proud of!"

I took part because I love the sense of team spirit in facing a challenge together whilst raising money for a worthwhile cause. It suddenly became a lot more serious from when we initially signed up and, to be honest, I thought it would be somewhat more of a cruise (!!). It was a lot longer than I expected but I couldn't believe how choppy the Thames gets around London Bridge which was pretty hairy!! It was so much fun training together and seeing London from the river. We all felt a fantastic sense of achievement and I can't wait to find the next challenge for the team to pull together on!"
