Award win for Better Queensway

Swan's Better Queensway regeneration scheme in Southend has scooped the overall award for ‘Excellence in Masterplanning and Urban Design’ at The Landscape Institute Awards 2021.

Amongst hundreds of other shortlisted entries across the UK, the masterplan for BQ has landed first place at The Landscape Institute Awards 2021 for its great design and the transformative vision it provides for the future of the Queensway estate.

The transformative masterplan has been created by the Swan and Southend team in partnership with a collective of well-respected architects, dRMM and LDA Design, and highly skilled engineers, Civic Engineers; something which has also been recognised in this award win.

Better Queensway’s masterplan was approved earlier this Spring and has already had success in a number of other national awards over the last few months. These include: a shortlisted entry for ‘Future Place’ at ‘The Pineapples’ and a commended entry for ‘Best Social Housing Initiative’ at this year’s ‘The Municipal Journal’ awards, plus a shortlisted entry for ‘Environment & Sustainability Initiative of the Year’ as part of this year’s British Construction Industry Awards (BCIA).
