Joining Swan in a Pandemic
Over the past year, recruitment has still been a large part of Swan.
Acquiring and maximising our talent has continued us on our journey, a vital element in taking us from strength to strength. Our recruitment figures show we've employed 115 new starters across the group from 1/4/20 - 28/2/21.
As we've welcomed our new starters with open arms among the teams, we appreciate that starting a new role, with many of our teams working from home, can be a challenge and quite daunting for some. Now a few months in and truly bedded into her new role, we hear what Molly Midgen - People Apprentice has to say about joining the company below:
"Starting a new job from home in the middle of a pandemic is not something I ever imagined I'd have to do, but Swan and the People Team have made the whole process completely seamless and my time so far has been really enjoyable.
My first week at Swan was a bit of whirlwind, with introductions to the team, training sessions, and trying to learn new systems and processes, which is daunting enough in normal circumstances, let alone when you’re doing it all over video calls from a desk at home! However, I really had nothing to worry about - I couldn’t have wished to work for a more welcoming company or team.
From day one I felt like I was a part of the team, and I felt supported throughout my whole induction period. Meeting everyone over video call has been a little strange and something that has taken time to get used to, but I'm glad I'm still able to get to know and connect with different people throughout the business, albeit in a slightly different way to normal.
Despite working from home, I've never once felt that I was left on my own or felt out of my depth - this is all thanks to the support and guidance from Hayley Rainsley & Ellie Gunton, and the wider People Team. They have all taught me so much over the last 3 months; I look back at how much I've learnt and developed, and it is all thanks to them. I'm really looking forward to growing my skills and developing more in my role, and hopefully meeting my colleagues in person one day soon!"
