Purfleet Regeneration Scheme – Shortlisted for Planning Awards 2021

Swan Housing Association’s Purfleet Centre Regeneration Scheme has been shortlisted for the Planning Awards 2021 in the Award for Regeneration category.

The £1bn regeneration scheme will transform the town of Purfleet-on-Thames into a thriving waterfront destination with over 2,850 new homes and improved business, social and educational infrastructure on the Thames Estuary.

The development is being delivered by Purfleet Centre Regeneration Limited (PCRL) - a joint venture between Swan and Urban Catalyst, in partnership with Thurrock Council. Following several years of extensive consultation and planning, work has begun on the first phase of the scheme, which is due for completion in 2032.

Sir Tim Laurence, Chair of PCRL said: “PCRL is delighted to have been shortlisted for a Planning Award for its £1bn regeneration of Purfleet-on-Thames that will improve the economic and social wellbeing of its community, creating a place where everyone can thrive - now and for generations to come. We’re looking forward to celebrating brilliant placemaking at the awards ceremony in June.”

The awards presentation ceremony will take place virtually on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 June 2021.
