Southend-on-Sea City Status – A fitting tribute to Sir David Amess

Everyone at Swan has been saddened by the tragic and shocking death of Southend West MP, Sir David Amess.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and those closest to him but also to all those for whom Sir David was a dedicated and passionate champion whether it be his constituents and local stakeholders whom he always put first; his political colleagues of all parties who have paid such moving tributes since his death; or those who shared a long term and committed vision to see Southend-on-Sea recognised as a major UK City.

It is a fitting tribute to Sir David for Southend-on-Sea to be awarded the City status he had so long championed and only recently re-launched Southend’s bid for. We look forward to working with all stakeholders in Southend-on-Sea to help deliver on the benefits that Sir David so strongly believed City status would bring to the town and supporting Sir David’s legacy.
