Digital course teaches Swan customers new skills

Swan’s Customer Involvement and Community Development (CICD) team has delivered a free, seven-week digital skills course to customers in Essex, with all eight of the participants improving both their ability and confidence in using a computer.

The course, which was taught at the King Edward Community Centre in Laindon, was delivered in partnership with WEA, a charity providing adult education in England and Scotland.

The aim of the training was to teach customers how to make the most out of being online; covering how to find and apply for jobs, use public services, claim benefits and set up an email account.

One customer who took part in the digital skills training was Steve, who has been inspired to carry on his learning and develop his digital skills.

He said: “Computer training was very helpful. I learned how to copy, paste, save and use Zoom. I am now looking to complete the advanced computer course.”

Two other attendees who took the course credit it for helping them to find a job, as well as attending the Laindon Job Club held every Tuesday at the community centre.

Swan regularly runs training for customers in both Essex and London. Find out about our latest training opportunities.
