Dobsons House celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

It was a weekend of celebrations for our customers living at Dobsons House, Swan’s extra care scheme in Rayleigh, as they celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style with a royal-themed get-together.

Customers were cordially invited to their very own garden party, hosted by Swan’s Care and Support team, who went above and beyond to ensure that a good time was had by all.

A wonderful spread was served, including plenty of coronation chicken and spam sandwiches. Dobsons’ Ice Cream Parlour was also open for business, serving banana splits and the ‘Dobsons’ Delight’, a Jubilee-inspired ice cream with the flavour designed by our customers.

Providing the entertainment was a Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist singing 1950’s favourites, and in keeping with the retro theme, there was an old-time sweet cart with classic favourites like Fruit Salads and Black Jacks.

The sun shone whilst residents shared memories and danced into the evening. Everyone received some memorabilia for the day - a Jubilee cup and coaster!

Shani Levy, Director of Care and Specialist Accommodation, said: “It was lovely to be invited and to celebrate a moment in history with the staff and customers at Dobsons House. It’s days like these that remind me of why I love my job!”

Also taking part in the Jubilee festivities were customers living at Home Mead, Spencer House, Andrew House, Boyes Croft and King Street, Swan’s supported housing schemes, with community events including street parties, afternoon teas, raffles and a sing along to the National Anthem.
