Swan customers share skills at preservation workshops held at Blackwall Reach

Helping customers do their bit to love the planet, Swan’s Customer Involvement and Community Development (CICD) team has been hosting food preservation workshops at The Reach Community Hub on its Blackwall Reach development in East London.

Swan, in partnership with the Preservation Culture, has trained three talented people, two of whom are Swan customers, to deliver the workshops to their local community, sharing their knowledge of how to turn leftover ingredients into jams, chutneys and pickles.

As well as being environmentally friendly, helping customers to be mindful about food can save money and is a great new skill that could even be turned into a business.

For those who took part, it was not only learning a new skill that they found most valuable, it was being given the opportunity to meet new people and connect with other members of their community. Many participants agreed that this was what they enjoyed most about the workshop.

Another commented that they enjoyed learning how to use spice, while others said how much fun they had.

Due to the success of the first three cohorts of cooking enthusiasts, Swan will be hosting its next preservation workshop on Saturday 14 May. Find out more here.
