How can I move?
If you currently live in a Swan home and need to move there are several options available to you depending on your circumstances.
To request a transfer you need to register online at www.homehunt.co.uk Your application will be placed into one of four priority bands depending on your circumstances. Once you have registered you will be able to search and apply for your new home via the website.
If you hold a secure or assured tenancy you may find that the quickest way for you to move home is by a mutual exchange. A Mutual Exchange is when two or more social housing tenants agree to swap their homes. Swan are members of www.homeswapper.co.uk and Swan tenants can register on this website free of charge. You may also find someone to swap with through friends and family, advertising in a local paper or shop window or via social media. Three way exchanges are not uncommon and increase your chances of finding someone to swap with.
If you decide to do a mutual exchange you will need Swan’s permission. Residents who exchange their homes must accept the other property in the condition it is in and take on any repairs that the outgoing tenant was responsible for.
In exceptional circumstances transfer list applicants can be awarded a higher priority. This is known a Management Priority Decision. Households experiencing racial, sexual, homophobic or religious harassment and applicants who are unable to live safely in their home because of domestic abuse may be considered for a Management Move. Other circumstances may be considered, please call Swan’s Allocations Team on 0300 303 2500 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
If you have a medical condition that your doctor agrees is made worse by your current home you can apply for a Medical Priority Award. Swan will consider your treatment, symptoms and prognosis and assess if your needs could be met by making appropriate adaptations to your current home.
